Galax police are investigating the death of a 52-year-old Black male in a home on the 100 block of Eastview Street.
The man’s body was discovered in the basement on May 22 around 6:30 p.m. by returning family members.
“We don’t know anything yet,” said Police Chief DeWitt Cooper, adding that there was no obvious cause of death.
The man’s name has not been released, pending the outcome of the investigation.
The Galax Police Department is awaiting further information from the Office of the State Medical Examiner, said Cooper, which could take weeks.
