INDEPENDENCE — At its May meeting, the Grayson County School Board, on a split vote, approved a personnel report that included two new principals.
Anthony Kidd was approved as the new principal of Independence Elementary School. He replaces Lauren Raper, who announced her resignation last month.
Regina Graffham was approved as the new principal of Independence Middle School. She replaces Jamey Hale, who announced his retirement last month.
Both principal appointments are effective July 1.
Other personnel items included:
• Appointments — Michael Dunford, maintenance; Kaycee Allen, Derrick Murphy, Terre Davidson, Jacob Stuart and Mark Howell, teachers; Cindy Huff, Audra Milligram, Timothy Sands, Ethan Campbell and Samantha Davis, community school coordinators; Kristin Harrington, Rebecca Parsons and Jacob Livengood, aides.
• Resignations — Matt Hall, teacher; McKayla Davis, aide; Haley Lee, school counselor.
• Retirement — Bonnie Russell, aide.
• Transfers — Peggy Church, aide, to Independence Middle School; Taylor Wright, teacher, to Independence Middle School; Jessica Anders, teacher, Independence Middle School.
The summer school, summer food and reappointment lists were also approved.
Fred Weatherman made the motion to approve the personnel List 1. It passed by a 4-1 vote, with Randy Shinault voting no.
Weatherman made the motion to approve List 2. It passed by a 3-2 vote, with Shinault and Chris Anders voting no.
Weatherman also made the motion to approve List 3. It passed by a 3-2 vote, with Shinault and Anders again voting no.
The next regular meeting of the school board is set for June 12 at the Grayson Highlands School cafeteria at 6 p.m. A close-out meeting for the fiscal year will be held at the Independence Middle School library on June 26 at 6 p.m.
