Jeffery Scott Plummer of Independence, Va., was born Aug. 17, 1962, and passed away May 12, 2022, following an accident.

Jeff added much joy and happiness to his family and memories for all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Agnes Plummer; his stepfather, James Welch; and his grandparents, John and Ruth Anders, Steve and Jeston Plummer.

He is survived by his uncle, J. Scott and Nancy Anders, Bermuda Run, N.C.; cousins, Anthony Anders, Pfafftown, N.C.; Sterling and Cindy Anders and their children, Virginia and Patrick, Lenoir, N.C.; Desiree’ and Dr. Mark Morgan, and children Cutter, Cash and Georgia Ann, Wilmington, N.C..

One special survivor is Smokey, his dog and constant companion. Smokey was always by his side night or day — at home or in his Jeep.

Jeff had many interests and hobbies. Among them were his love for guns and tractors. He loved to target shoot with his cousins and their sons and also loved to tractor shop with his stepfather, James.

His career was with VDOT, where he enjoyed many experiences and developed friendships. One special friendship, which lasted until death, was with Curtis Thomas. Curtis and Becky shared many meals with Jeff. Our family appreciates and thanks Curtis and Becky for their kindness.

Jeff loved his Lord and spent many hours reading and studying his Bible. He loved to discuss scripture and was in church all of his life.

Jeff left instructions for conducting his funeral; therefore a graveside service will be at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Independence, Va., at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2022, with the Rev. David Osborne officiating. Flowers are appreciated, or donations in Jeff’s honor to Independence Rescue Squad or Independence Volunteer Fire Department.
